not true.her voice is amazing and is definately important to the sound but if you listen to her earlier recordings you can really hear how well the hypnotic guitar chords compliment her vocals.

the song "that highway" really does have a harder sound. featuring distortion, a keyboard AND maracas! xD
but there are lots of other mazzy star songs that have a jazzy, blues sound that kinda goes hard. especially on the album "she hangs brightly" songs like: she hangs brightly, i'm sailin', and free. but "halah" will always be my favorite mazzy star song.

@mooseelkdog Very interesting way of describing her voice. I like it, she's got the tortured/twisted soul thing going, but with the bitter-sweetness of lonesome female country, like Patsy. Nice.
